From JC: When serving as a State FFA Officer in 2016-2017, I had the chance to journey to South Africa in January of 2017. We spent two weeks there studying the agriculture of the country. Being able to experience other farmers passion for farming and agriculture enhanced my appreciation of agriculture and farming here in the US.

My time in FFA helped me develop a strong network that has served me well since coming to the College of ACES. This network of both faculty and students has helped me to adapt quickly to college life and my new schedule. FFA also put me in positions where I had to practice and develop critical thinking and technical skills, both of which are in high demand on a campus that works hard to produce well-educated and well-prepared professionals. Finally, the biggest thing anyone can gain from FFA is exposure to great leadership and leadership opportunities. Developing these skills has allowed me to find a home away from home in various clubs and groups on campus, making my experience better than I could have imagined.

Advice for current members: Keep pursuing new opportunities. By trying different things and opening yourself to new experiences you begin investing in yourself. Only by pushing ourselves past where we find comfort can we find personal growth. Also be sure to make as many connections as you can. I know it can be hard, but finding new lifelong friends around the state and the country, builds a strong foundation for your future professional network.
