Choosing a Financial Professional Website
November 24, 2008
If you need help to develop strategies for reaching financial goals but don't know where to turn, a new University of Illinois Extension website might be of help.

"Choosing a Financial Professional" can be found at

The site discusses whether or not you should use a financial professional, who is a fiduciary, questions to use in interviewing financial professionals, and understanding the different types of financial professionals.

It was developed by U of I Extension consumer and family economics educators Karen Chan and Kathy Sweedler.

Chan said that you should ask yourself questions like: Do I need help in developing strategies to reach my financial goals? Do I need a few questions answered or a comprehensive financial plan?

Sweedler said that during tough economic times, it makes sense to seek help to evaluate your financial plan and knowing the questions to ask will help you choose a professional who can help you meet your financial goals.
