Teacher Workshop on Alternative Energy Set for May 13

iBIO Institute and the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois are cosponsoring "Going Green! Alternative Energy in the Classroom," a professional development workshop for teachers of high school and middle school students.

The workshop will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus.

Presenters at the workshop will include Hans Blaschek, Ph.D., director of the Center for Advanced BioEnergy Research at the University of Illinois; Mindy McDermott, agricultural educator at Waterloo High School; and Jana Sebestik, curriculum integration specialist with the College of Education at the University of Illinois.

During the workshop, attendees will participate in hands-on experiments in alternative energy that can be easily conducted in classrooms, and receive take-home resources to assist in implementing the experiments.
