The Office of International Programs in the College of ACES with the support of the ACES Office of Research is soliciting proposals for joint research projects with researchers at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Organization (Embrapa).
This program enables ACES faculty to work on joint projects with researchers based at Embrapa. ACES will fund two, 2-year proposals at $25,000 per year per project for two years. Embrapa will provide the same level of funding to two Embrapa projects, but these projects will not necessarily be the collaborators of the Illinois-funded projects. In order to receive funding, the activities of an ACES-funded project must form an integrated research program with an Embrapa collaborator.
The lead PI from the College of ACES must be a tenure track professor or research-focused specialized faculty and must have an active Hatch project related to the proposed activities. Successful ACES applicants will only receive funds if there is an appropriately defined Hatch project into which the funds can be transferred. Consult with Amanda Lombardo (alombar@illinois.edu) in the ACES Office of Research to establish an appropriate Hatch project.
Proposals must identify an investigator from the partner institution and must provide evidence that this investigator has applied for support or has secured support for the same joint research activity. The activities of the ACES investigator and the collaborator must form an integrated research program.
