The Center for Experiential Learning & Leadership (CELL)

Students evolve into great workers by gaining experience and confidence. CELL's mission is to foster problem-based instruction and embedded experiential learning, so students leave the college confident to solve problems. Experience working with clients on authentic problems means students graduate more prepared to add value on the job from day one and succeed in their careers.

Experiential Learning Capstones

  • International Business Immersion: International employers host teams of students in international experiential learning. This course equips participants with the skills to operate successfully in a global business environment. (Agricultural & Consumer Economics)
  • JBT Needs Assessment: Clients provide an issue within their organization for student teams to conduct a needs assessment. The student teams are tasked with meeting an organization's goals towards a solution to a real problem. (Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences)
  • Capstone Experience: Employers host a team that develops solutions to real-world challenges. (Engineering Technology & Management for Agricultural Systems)
  • Food Product Development: Employers host a team to develop a product based on attributes specific to their needs. (Food Science & Human Nutrition)
  • Practicum: Employers serve as practicum "intern" hosts for the fall semester. Projects should be of use after the intern leaves and should be ones that the intern can point to illustrate their skills and competencies. (Human Development & Family Studies)
  • Training & Development: Employers provide an educational or training need for students to develop into a program. Students will work with the employer in teams to create an innovative program to meet the desired outcomes. (Organizational & Community Leadership)
