Faculty receive funding for new projects in Kenya, Mexico, Sierra Leone, and UK
Four faculty from the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) have received funding to further their international work through the longstanding ACES International Seed Grant program, facilitated by the Office of International Programs.
The goal of the seed grant program is to support awardees in establishing strong international relationships that will continue to expand and flourish into a larger and substantial international collaborative effort that will ultimately benefit departments, programs, the College of ACES, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Congratulations to these faculty members for their recently funded projects:
Pablo Torres Aguilar, Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, “The nutrition transition, food retail transformation and changes in traditional dietary patterns in Kenya”
Richard Cooke, Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering “Enhancing the Circularity of Rice Production in Sierra Leone by Developing Designer Biochar from Rice Straw”
Nathan Schroeder, Department of Crop Sciences “Facilitating an international collaboration on neurodegeneration using electron microscopy” (UK)
Benjamin Van Doren, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences “Establishing international partnerships in bioacoustic monitoring of bird migration” (Mexico)
