Urbana, Ill. — Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment (iSEE) Director Madhu Khanna was officially appointed the Alvin H. Baum Family Fund Chair on Oct. 12 at an investiture ceremony at the Funk ACES Library on the University of Illinois campus.

The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE), part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) and The Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will honor the exceptional success of two distinguished graduates at the 2023 Alumni Awards ceremony on Oct. 6. 

Matt Riggs is a 2023 recipient of the Young Alumni Achievement Award from the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences and The Grainger College of Engineering.  

Kay Whitlock is a 2023 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences and The Grainger College of Engineering.  

URBANA, Ill. — The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) honored Jonathan Coppess as the Leonard and Lila Gardner Illinois Farm Bureau Family of Companies Endowed Associate Professor in Agricultural Policy during an investiture ceremony at the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, on Sept. 14.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) has recognized the accomplishments of three esteemed faculty — professors Jonathan Coppess, Madhu Khanna, and Nicholas Paulson — all in the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Sciences (ACE) with named professorships, which is one of the highest honors in the academic world.

URBANA, Ill. — Every year, the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign honors three high-achieving juniors or seniors who exemplify leadership, academic excellence, and a commitment to the ACES mission. In 2023, the Hugh P. Morrison Award, Robert M. Harrison Leadership Award, and Warren K. Wessels Award went to Ainsley Peterson, Brodee McCormick, and Lauren McMillan, respectively.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) honored exceptional faculty, staff, and graduate students at the 2023 Paul A. Funk Recognition Awards banquet on Sept. 18 at Pear Tree Estate. Below is a list of award recipients who were recognized by ACES dean Germán Bollero during the ceremony. 

Kaiyu Guan, Founding Director of the Agroecosystem Sustainability Center (ASC) and a Blue Waters Associate Professor in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, has received the prestigious James B. Macelwane Medal from the American Geophysical Union (AGU). 

URBANA, Ill. — David Bullock, professor of agricultural and consumer economics and principal investigator of the Data-Intensive Farm Management Project (DIFM) in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, is part of a multi-institutional team that receiv
