With planting in the rearview mirror, Illinois farmers can catch up on the latest science during Agronomy Days from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Last week, scientists from around the world congregated at the 14th World Congress of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) in Kecskemét, Hungary, where a new journal Global Challenges and Regional Science was announced.

The loss of nutrients into Illinois’ lakes, streams, and rivers harms water quality here and downstream all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. The Illinois Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy, NLRS, was established in 2015 and is designed to reduce nutrient pollution in Illinois’ waterways and the Mississippi River and its negative impacts by exploring and recommending practical, research-based nutrient loss practices and collaborating with partners across the state.  

URBANA, Ill. – The Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics (ACE) honored Nicholas Paulson as the Hobart R. and Marian Gardner Hinderliter Endowed Professor in Farm Management during an investiture ceremony in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, on Oct. 13.

URBANA, Ill. — Illinois farmers can now sample their fields for soybean cyst nematode (SCN) at no cost, thanks to the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) and the Plant Clinic, a service of University of Illinois Extension, part of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — On Monday, Aug. 14, Governor Pritzker signed House Bill 3814, which allows youth enrolled in FFA and Illinois Extension 4-H to use their program participation toward their school attendance.
