Winter Break 2025 - 2026
Below are the ACES Study Abroad Programs that are still accepting applications for the winter break 2025-2026 term! Applications for all of these programs are due by 11:59 pm CST on September 15.

- HDFS 379 - Service Learning, Child, Family, Health and Agriculture in South Africa (All Majors Can Apply)
- NRES 385 - Conservation and Culture in India (All Majors Can Apply)
- NRES 385 - Coral Reef Field Course in the Bahamas (All Majors Can Apply)
- NRES 385 - Ecology, Culture, & Environmental Sustainability in the Yucatan Peninsula (All Majors Can Apply)
Spring Semester 2026
Below are the ACES Study Abroad Programs that are still accepting applications for the spring 2026 semester! If you are interested in a program administered by another college, please review the details in My Study Abroad and check the Apply tab to see if it is still open.
Applications for all of these programs are due by 11:59 pm CST on September 15. The applications require a study abroad advising appointment and a recommendation form, so please start right away!

**Students participating in priority programs will be considered for an additional $5,000 in scholarship as long as they apply for the ACES Study Abroad Scholarship!**
Scholarships
Below are some scholarships that are still accepting applications for both terms.
- I4I/IIP Campus-wide Study Abroad Scholarship (Due September 1, essays are very important!)
- ACES Study Abroad Scholarship (Due September 15, guaranteed some funding as long as you submit the scholarship app!)
- Gilman International Scholarship (Due October 3, for students receiving a Federal Pell Grant)
The I4I and Gilman Scholarships are competitive, but many ACES students do receive them! You simply need to spend time on your essays and have them reviewed. Faculty-led
Many faculty members, instructors, and advisors in the College of ACES lead study abroad programs over winter, spring, and summer breaks. The programs are tied to specific ACES courses, which allow for seamless integration into your program of study. The faculty-led programs are tied to eight-week pre-departure courses, and you will have an opportunity to travel with a cohort of fellow students from the Urbana-Champaign campus.

Internships
Gain valuable professional, language, and cross-cultural skills with an internship abroad! You may be able to obtain credit for the internship depending on the length and placement details.
Research
Many programs offer students the opportunity to participate in supervised research for credit!
First-year Students
While most programs require students to have at least a sophomore standing, a few are designed for first-year students. Talk to your academic advisor at New Student Registration about how to enroll in our ACES 298 courses and corresponding first-year experience Winter Break program.
