Thank you for your interest in becoming an ACES exchange student. While this website will provide you with helpful information, your first point of contact should always be the study abroad coordinator at your home university to determine if your school is a partner exchange school with us.
Please note that while most of the information provided here applies to all incoming ACES exchange students, the application process is specifically for students applying to a College of ACES exchange program. If you are applying to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign through another college/office, please be sure you are following that college's/office’s application process.

Credit System
Coursework is counted in semester credit hours. In general, one credit hour represents a one-hour class period that requires at least two hours of individual study each week for one semester. Thus, a semester three-credit hour course would meet for three hours a week and the student would be expected to perform at least six hours of homework, self-study, and/or research outside of class. A full semester course load is considered a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Grading System
Find an explanation of grades on the Office of the Registrar website.
Estimated Cost of Living
Academic Year 2022-2023 applicants should expect to verify at least $10,200 (one semester) or $20,400 (two semesters).
