ACES hosts 60 Fellows of National Defense University for annual program

A cadre of 60 senior officials from national militaries around the world visited the College of ACES as part of the International Fellows Program of the National Defense University (NDU) on October 14, 2014. The Fellows represented more than 50 countries.

As part of a Midwest tour to learn about critical food security and agribusiness issues, their visit to ACES, organized by the Office of International Programs, included listening to seminar presentations on strategic topics, including crop market fundamentals (Dr. John Newton, Agricultural and Consumer Economics), emerging issues in global agricultural trade (Dr. Kathy Baylis, Agricultural and Consumer Economics), and using systems and informatics to analyze food and agricultural systems (Dr. Luis Rodriguez, Agricultural and Biological Engineering). The group also toured the campus’s South Farms and Energy Farm.

ACES has a longstanding relationship with NDU and has hosted Fellows for more than 20 years.

The NDU is the premier center for Joint Professional Military Education and is under the direction of the United States Department of Defense, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. The University’s main campus is on Fort Lesley J. McNair in Washington, D.C.
