A delegation representing Argentina’s Córdoba province visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on Nov. 6 as part of a tour to learn how industry, government, and start-ups interact in the U.S. university ecosystem. 

Food systems for humans and wildlife was the theme of a symposium held Oct. 17-18 at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The annual symposium focuses on a particular aspect of international food security each year.

The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has named Professor Mary Arends-Kuenning as the associate dean for international programs. Using data collected on agricultural machine-related injuries in Pakistan, a team from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is advocating for a safer work environment for farmers around the world.

Just two machines, the fodder cutter and the thresher, were together responsible for 79% of the agricultural machine-related injuries reported in two Pakistani provinces during 2022-2023, many of which caused amputations, according to a study that is detailed in Safety 2024.

The Global Academy, a unique international training program based in College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) has kicked off its sixteenth year.

Eleven students and five professors from Japan’s Kyushu University visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for two weeks during August to study the intersections of agriculture, the environment, and people in central Illinois. 

As part of the robust program organized by the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) Offices of International Programs and Study Abroad and funded by Kyushu, the visitors participated in campus, farm, and industry tours, lectures, and cultural events. 

As part of a prestigious fellowship sponsored by The Norman Borlaug Institute, Molly Boyd, a 2024 graduate from the Department of Agricultural and Consumer Economics in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will spend the next several months working as an agricultural extension agent and teacher in Ghana.
