ACES hosts delegation from Argentina’s Córdoba province

Cordoba visitors by the ACES belltower

A delegation representing Argentina’s Córdoba province visited the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign on Nov. 6 as part of a tour to learn how industry, government, and start-ups interact in the U.S. university ecosystem.

Córdoba is known for its food processing as well as cereal and cattle production, and the delegation was especially interested to tour the Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory. They also visited EnterpriseWorks at the U. of I.’s Research Park and met with Germán Bollero, Dean of the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences.

In addition to many university rectors (similar to the U. of I.’s Chancellor), this delegation notably included Córdoba’s Vice Governor Myrian Prunotto, as well as the Secretary of Science and Technology for the province.

The delegation’s visit was organized by the College of ACES Office of International Programs.

“It was great that Dr. Yanina Pepino from Food Science and Human Nutrition was available to join for the day and make connections with the universities. I believe the group will stay in touch as a result of that personal connection,” said Lauren Karplus, assistant director of the ACES Office of International Programs.
