The College of Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends to the annual Celebrate Food and Ag Day tailgate on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, which will be held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the 2:30 p.m. kickoff at the Illinois vs. Purdue football game.

“This celebration is a fantastic opportunity to unite our ACES family and recognize the essential contributions of the food and agriculture industry,” said ACES Dean Germán Bollero. “With activities for all ages and the chance to reconnect with friends and colleagues, it’s a day we all look forward to each year.”

The tailgate, held in Lot 31, will feature a buffet, drinks, and fun for the whole family. Tickets are $30 per person (children 12 and under are free) and include one alcoholic beverage for adults over 21, with additional beverages available for purchase.

This year’s event also includes several exciting additions:

  • Special guest appearances: Several notable guests will be stopping by the tailgate, offering attendees the opportunity to meet and take photos together.

  • Food and agriculture exhibits – Explore interactive exhibits and educational games provided by the College of ACES and Illinois Extension, including 4-H, in Grange Grove.

  • Petting zoo – Back by popular demand, a variety of farm animals will be on hand in Grange Grove for a petting zoo.

  • Tailgate meat packages – The College of ACES Meat Science Laboratory will offer special meat packages for sale, perfect for your own tailgate celebrations. All orders include free ACES tongs. Details and ordering information will be available on the Meat & Egg Sales website.

  • Farm stand produce – ACES’ Sustainable Student Farm will host a farm stand in Grange Grove, offering fresh produce to enhance your tailgate spread.

The game time will likely be announced the week of the game. Register by Oct. 3 to secure your spot at the tailgate. Special discounted football game tickets are available for ACES alumni and friends to purchase.
