ACES student selected for 2024 Homecoming Court
Once again, the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) is represented on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Homecoming Court — this year by Ashley Equíhua, a senior studying nutrition and health in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (FSHN).
Hailing from Summit, Illinois, Equíhua is passionate about local and global health, advocacy for underrepresented groups, mentorship, and demonstrates a commitment to service. On campus, Equíhua serves as a Nutrition Peer Educator at the McKinley Health Center, trip coordinator for Global Medical Training, community service chair for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences (MANRRS), ambassador for FSHN, and actively participates in local volunteering efforts. Upon graduation, she plans to attend medical school and apply her nutrition expertise to advance medicine. She is privileged to have been selected for the Homecoming Court and extends her appreciation to the university, proud to represent first-generation Latine students.
The homecoming court is composed of 20 student leaders in senior standing who are selected based on their academic achievements, campus leadership, and community involvement. Those selected to serve on the court are considered role models for their peers and outstanding University of Illinois student body representatives.
