College of ACES enrollment up for fall 2019 semester

URBANA, Ill. – Ten-day numbers are in, and undergraduate enrollment in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois continues to rise, adding to a record-breaking year of enrollment at U of I.  

New freshman enrollment in the College of ACES is at 538 for fall 2019, compared to 512 at this time last year, with 2,801 total undergraduate enrollment for the college in fall 2019, compared to 2,631 last year.

ACES has also seen a significant increase in new transfer students for this year, with 195 in fall 2019, compared to 149 last year.

“We have worked diligently to articulate what we do and why it matters to potential students, and to offer them exciting opportunities to create vibrant career pathways through ACES majors that will allow them to make a difference in the world,” says ACES Dean Kim Kidwell. “We have generated great momentum through these efforts and are thrilled to welcome more talented young people into the ACES family.”

Other information about the make-up of 2019 ACES undergraduate enrollment:

- 56% female students; 44% male students

- 91 Illinois counties represented

- 28% first generation students

-  24.3% from underrepresented groups in the new freshmen class (campus percentage is 23.2%)
