URBANA, Ill. – The College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois has acquired a work of art by renowned painter Billy Morrow Jackson.

The painting, “Windwalker,” was donated to the college by the artist’s wife of 30 years, Blanche Mary Jackson. It is currently on display in the dean’s conference room, 224 Mumford Hall.

A recent ACES alumnus and former International Graduate Grant recipient recently returned to campus to share his experiences with aspiring food scientists, specifically how he led his team to create the world’s very first hemp coffee creamer.

URBANA, Ill. — Sustainability leadership, research, education, and practices will remain at the forefront of University of Illinois priorities, thanks in part to significant endowments from Stuart L. and Nancy J. Levenick of Naples, Florida.

Mr. Levenick, a U of I alumnus who captained the 1975 Illini football team and received a B.S. in forestry in 1976, and his wife have designated this major endowment in two parts:

Jill Leahy, Jay Haning’s sister, describes her brother as a passionate farmer, a dedicated employee with an unmatched work ethic, a wise agribusiness man, a loyal, funny and generous friend; and a lover of life, laughter, and all things John Deere. A College of ACES endowed scholarship established by Jay’s family and friends honors him for all of these traits.

It’s common to hear College of ACES alumni speak of the impact Warren Wessels made on their lives. Dean Wessels passed away on August 16, 2018.

Warren Wessels was an assistant dean in the college from 1958 to 1994. During his time in service to ACES, he worked with thousands of students, as he carried out roles as recruitment coordinator, orientation class instructor, and placement director.
